On May 20, the national standard - Technical Standard for Chimney Engineering (GB/T50051-2021) led and chiefly edited by MCC Huatian was released and implemented from October 1, 2021.
The Standard is fully revised and combined from the original national standards - Code for Design of Chimneys (GB50051-2013) and Code for Construction and Acceptance of Chimney Engineering (GB50078-2008) in accordance with the requirements of the Notice of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on Issuing the Standard Revision of Engineering Construction Standards and Related Work Plans in 2017 (JB [2016] No. 248). The standard revision group spent four years conducting a number of special researches, tests and theoretical studies, making extensive investigation and analysis, summarizing the practical experience in chimney design and construction of late years in China, coordinating with relevant standards and specifications, comparing with and learning from international advanced standards and specifications, and finally completed the standard revision. The new standard solves the problem that the previous design codes are not in line with the construction codes in revision and can further meet the user's needs and the supervision of regulatory departments. The implementation of new and revised contents greatly facilitates the engineering design, especially the improved and more reliable anti-corrosion design, which will greatly reduce the damage to chimney and maintenance costs, bringing remarkable social and economic effects.
